Sylvia Becerra
41 years old, is a sociologist (PhD, Toulouse University, 2003), specialising in the sociology of public policies and social practices. Her research themes are social and institutional vulnerability to natural risks & environmental change. She obtained two qualifications for academic positions in 2004 (sociology and political sciences). Tenured as a researcher at CNRS since October 2006, she was assigned to the GET lab where she develops sociological research on environmental change, environmental contamination and natural risks at the Midi-Pyrénées Observatory (eight laboratories in earth sciences). Working in this context, she has developed her ability to manage and coordinate a research program in a multidisciplinary environment and since 2008 she has also completed management training (thesis supervision, project management, MS Project). She annually co-supervises two PhD students and she supervises several master students at the Institute of Political Sciences of Toulouse. She co-hosts theme 6 of GET Laboratoy:"Interactions between metallic contamination and ecosystems: interfaces with health and society" and the transverse action "Environment, Health and Society" of the Midi-Pyrénées Observatory. She was responsible for various tasks under the ANR projects Eclis (Breeding Climate and Society) and AMAC (flood warning Improvement). Since 2011, she has hosted a working group of the Scientific and Technical
Council of the Hydrometeorological and flood forecasting national Service (SCHAPI). She has included a social dimension in numerous scientific environmental projects and has built projects such as MONOIL on the interface between disciplines.
